Refund Policy
Back an event, or don't lose a kobo trying. This page explains exactly when money goes back to you. It is a plain-language placeholder pending final legal review.
This page was last reviewed in 2026.
1. Funds are held, not handed over
When you buy a ticket or pledge as a partner, your payment is collected and held while the campaign runs. The organizer cannot touch it, and no payout is made until the campaign deadline passes.
2. If the goal is missed
The campaign is marked not funded and every backer is refunded the exact amount they paid, automatically, to the payment method used.
You get an in-app notification (and an email once email is live) confirming the refund. Refunds are initiated within 24 hours of the deadline; how quickly the money lands depends on your bank, typically 3 to 10 working days.
You do not need to request anything. There is no platform fee on a refunded pledge.
3. If the goal is met
Pledges are captured, tickets are issued to ticket backers, and the organizer is paid the amount raised minus the platform fee. From that point the pledge is not refundable simply because you changed your mind.
4. If a funded event is cancelled or materially changed
Contact us at hello@9jabackstage.com and report the issue from the campaign page. We will investigate with the organizer.
Where an event does not happen, we will work to recover funds and return them to backers. Because funds have already been paid out to the organizer at that stage, recovery is not guaranteed, but the organizer remains responsible for making backers whole.
5. Failed or duplicated payments
A payment that fails part way never creates a pledge, so nothing is owed. If a charge appears without a matching pledge in My Pledges, contact us with the payment reference and we will trace and reverse it.
6. Tickets
Tickets are tied to the backer who bought them. A ticket already checked in at the door cannot be refunded.
